The Bengals and Eagles played to a tie this weekend, and in overtime, both teams showed they were okay with it. Certainly not what you want to see from the team you root for. You don’t want to see that they don’t have the heart to go for a win. I most certainly thought Jake Elliott was going to play hero for the Eagles, leaving us Bengals fans once again questioning why we ever cut him after drafting him!
Joe Burrow looked good once again throwing for over 300 yards and 2 TDs, both of which went to fellow rookie Tee Higgins. Hopefully that was a sign for things to come, since the Bengals used the first pick of round 2 on Higgins. These two should have a long, and hopefully prosperous, relationship for the next decade or so.
Despite the Bengals’ first two picks in this year’s draft doing well on Sunday, one thing was abundantly clear, if it wasn’t already: the offensive line and the defense as a whole need to be better, much better! The Bengals aren’t going to win many games this year, which we already knew coming in, but they aren’t going to be in many games either at the rate the O line and defense are playing. And, they’re going to get Burrow hurt. Hang on to your hats, it’s going to be a long, wild ride this season!
NEXT GAME:
Bengals vs Jaguars @1pm Sunday Oct.4th
Let’s all hope this Sunday is more enjoyable to watch.
